SETTING UP ZOOM FOR YOUR LESSONS

Unless you already have the Zoom app installed and working on your computer you will need to download it at https://zoom.com. For the purposes of lessons you only need the free version and there are versions for both PCs and Macs available to download in the "Resources" page of their website. There are various options, but generally you only need "Zoom Client for Meetings" which is available in 32- and 64-bit downloads. If you are new to Zoom you can request a demo on the website to get the feel for using the app. After you make an online lesson booking you will be sent an invitation to our "Meeting" with a link to the "Meeting", a "Meeting" ID and Passcode, along with the start and finish date and time. You should receive this up to 24 hours from the time you make your online lesson booking. If, for any reason, you do not receive the notification please use the contact form to let me know. Before the lesson starts make sure your audio and video connections are on and working. Obviously the higher the quality of equipment you use the better the user experience will be. Depending on the type of video camera you use, you will probably need to sit about 3 feet (1 metre) from it so you and your instrument will fill my screen. That's it for the basic essentials of using Zoom for an online lesson. If you have problems using the Zoom app please let me know via the contact form well ahead of the lesson start time. As with all things working online, there may be the odd glitch or two in transmission which is beyond my control, but if problems persist or you are unhappy with the transmission the lesson may be terminated, in which case you will be refunded, or you can opt for an in-person lesson on another day.
